Contractor: Como

Fire Engineering: Arup Fire

Description

Work has been undertaken to refurbish the common parts of this landmark building, formerly occupied by JP Morgan, including the fit out of floors to a Category A specification for potential new tenants. TP Bennett and Como worked closely with us to ensure the building provided high quality adaptable space maximising its letting potential. Very quickly City law firm Nabarro came on board to take a large part of the building as their new London HQ. They used the same construction team, led by GVA Second London Wall for this fit out including the City District Surveyors as their preferred building control provider.

Our role

We have carried out all building control functions for this refurbishment. By making use of our extensive records of the original base build project we were able check on the design criteria used for means of escape and fire safety provisions. This ensured that the new configuration still respects the original design criteria but also allows for flexibility in tenant layouts. This maximises the attraction for potential tenants while not compromising the complex life safety provision.

If you are considering undertaking a similar office refurbishment we are happy to assist you with any Building Regulation queries you may have and offer free pre-application advice. Please call 020 7332 1000 or email the District Surveyor's Office.
