Description

Bloomberg Place is a landmark development occupying a large site in the heart of the Square Mile. The development comprises two buildings providing a combined total of 110,000 square metres of commercial office space. There is retail accommodation at ground floor level within each building. The buildings are separated at ground floor level by a pedestrian arcade and is linked by bridges on alternating upper floor levels. The development houses a visitor centre for the Roman Temple of Mithras, which has been moved almost to its original position having been moved in 1954 during a previous redevelopment of the site. A new pedestrian link to London Underground Bank station will be constructed as part of the project.

Our role

From the project's inception we drew on our extensive experience of large new build commercial projects to provide assistance and guidance. We do this to ensure that Building Regulations compliance is achieved in the completed development. We provided assistance to the successful conclusion of the project by regular site inspections and meetings.

Due to the scale of the development and the nature of the existing site, a number of complex issues arose including the use of deep piled foundations and the modification of works on site to take into account existing substructures and areas of archaeological investigation. These issues were resolved in terms of the Building Regulations by working with the client and through a combination of our knowledge and our pragmatic approach.

If you are contemplating undertaking any new build commercial construction works or fit outs of such buildings, we are happy to assist you with any Building Regulation queries you may have and offer free pre-application advice. Please call 020 7332 1000 or email the District Surveyor's Office.
